KUALA LUMPUR, 27 March 2018 - Two academic staffs and 16 undergraduate students from UCSI University, Kuala Lumpur visited the University of Malaya High Voltage Laboratory (UMHVL) in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya on 27th March 2018. The visit was part of their educational activities.
During the visit, the Head of UMHVL and the Secretary of IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS) Malaysia Chapter, Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Hazlee Azil Illias introduced various high voltage research facilities available in the laboratory and briefed the visitors on the research activities carried out in the laboratory. A demonstration on breakdown in air under applied high voltage was performed to enhance the students’ experience on breakdown phenomena. Dr. Hazlee also took the opportunity to promote IEEE DEIS to the visitors and encouraged them to become a member of IEEE DEIS.
