KUALA LUMPUR, 2 August 2024 – A training related to Insulation Coordination Studies has been successfully conducted for 6 staffs from SDT Power Engineering Sdn. Bhd. at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaya on 1 and 2 August 2024. The trainers were Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Hazlee Azil Illias, who is the Head of Universiti Malaya High Voltage Laboratory (UMHVL), Chair of IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS) Malaysia Chapter and the Counselor of IEEE Universiti Malaya Student Branch, Mr. Ahmed Nasiru Yahaya, a member of UMHVL and Ts. Ir. Dr. Wong Jee Keen Raymond, the co-supervisor of UMHVL and an academic staff from the Department of Electrical Engineering.
The training mainly covered on the theory and background of insulation coordination, lightning phenomena, overvoltage phenomena and hands-on activities on several case studies of insulation coordination and overvoltage using EMTP software. The participants gained a lot of benefit from this training, which could be helpful in their work.
